Stockbridge Associates, LLC is a business consultancy focused on the improvement of long-term profitability, operational capability and strategic direction of small and medium sized businesses. The firm works directly with senior executives to help them improve their leadership skills and to identify and successfully execute strategic change initiatives that will have a meaningful impact on company operating and financial performance.

The firm has deep experience in the homebuilding and master planned community development industries and in the coaching and improvement of CEO and senior executive performance across multiple industries. Stockbridge Associates can act as an interim manager for a firm or project in order to implement strategic change or serve as a hands-on board member for financial interests who do not have deep understanding of the homebuilding and residential development businesses

About George Casey 

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Stockbridge Associates, LLC George E. Casey, Jr. is an accessible leader and mentor who is known for his approachability and open communication. He effectively helps to develop and communicates goals and objectives to his clients’ personnel and understands how to build a rapport with everyone from CEOs and boards of directors to middle managers and sales teams. George understands how leadership style can affect a company’s fiscal performance and coaches senior executives to inspire their employees to do their best work. He immerses himself in his clients’ company culture to understand internal financial, operational and social systems and identifies areas for improvement.

George is a dynamic and invested collaborator who uses a personal, hands-on approach when leading his clients and their businesses to new levels of success. Many of the senior executives with whom he has worked consider him a life-long mentor and friend whose advice and knowledge have been a defining force in their careers. George has a passion for executive coaching and for helping businesses realize their highest potential. He is well-respected as a leader and strategic thinker and takes pleasure in seeing the people and businesses he helps reach new levels of profitability.

George holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

George Casey's Business Experience

George began his career as a Lieutenant in the US Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps, where he led Seabee construction teams in Viet Nam building riverboat bases and radar installations in the Mekong Delta. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat “V” during his two tours of duty in Viet Nam.

In the early years of his career, he was the first home building project manager for Toll Brothers in Philadelphia for a decade, where he managed teams in the acquisition, entitlement, development, sales, and construction of residential communities. Subsequently, George accepted management and leadership positions with several leading home building companies constructing residential developments in the Midwest and Southeast, as well as California. He was the executive in charge of developing two “new town” master planned communities: Weston, FL (10,000 acres; 16500 homes plus commercial) and Verrado, AZ (8500 acres; 10,000 homes plus commercial).

George has experience as an operating executive including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Division President. George has served as a consultant, board member for both private and public boards, and industry expert and speaker on residential building and development industries. He has twice been part of senior management teams selected as Profession Builder’s National Builder of the Year (Toll Brothers and Realen Homes). A recent client (Thrive Homebuilders) was named the 2017 National Builder of the Year by Professional Builder.

Industry Involvement and Speaking Engagments

George is a full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), has twice served as Chair of ULI’s Residential Neighborhood Development Council, currently serves as ULI’s Community Development Council, and is a Governor of the Urban Land Institute Foundation. He also serves as the Chair of the Housing Innovation Alliance and as Chair of the Vistage group for Southern Maine.

George speaks and moderates panels regularly at industry conferences, including ULI, the Pacific Coast Building Conference, the Housing Innovation Alliance Summit, and the Zelman Housing Leadership Conference. He writes a regular blog “By George!” for Builder Magazine on housing trends and strategy and is the author of the book “Is the Juice Worth the Squeeze”.

Business Consulting Experience

Assist a startup web-based training company in its early year growth strategy and execution. Ultimately became a director of the company. Provided introductions which led to a strategic partnership and equity investment by a major public media company.
Assist a multi-family builder in evaluating a strategy to add single-family development and construction operations to its portfolio of businesses.
Assist a family business in creating a private board of outside advisors and developing a plan to transition control to the son and daughter of the founders. Help create new operating systems for the company and a new project management organizational structure to create better operational performance. (After one year of consulting, was hired to effect the changes recommended as the interim CEO of the company.)

The College was involved in innovative programs to help develop better secondary school teachers in Arizona
BuildIQ was a start-up technology company developing a platform and infrastructure for training of those in the residential construction industry. The company is still operating its platform.
Christopherson Homes build homes and residential communities in Sonoma and Marin Counties and the Sacramento market.
